Yesterday, a fast food commercial came on the television. A quick montage of fries, burgers and drinks flashed on the screen. I watched young girls and guys enjoying their value meals. All I could think about was yuck I don’t want that stuff. My brain was going over all the chemicals, salt and sugar in each of the items on the screen. The cost of the stuff is great but the cost of the diabetes and high blood pressure ran though my mind.
Now I probably didn’t have time to do all that thinking during the 30 second but I gave it a lot of thought after the commercial ended. I did not want the fries I used to crave after seeing a commercial or while out shopping. Fries were my go to snack. Then I heard about the chemicals and preservatives used to keep the fries fresh and tasty. I started preparing home fries and neither the store bought nor the fast food fries can compare. Stale and salty come to mind when I think about fast food fries now.
I shared my reaction with my husband. He shocked me by saying, “I can’t think of anything I want from (insert the clown here).” I was speechless listening to him and then he said, “Except.” And my bubble burst. It is a start though so I think we are on the same path.
